Control

One of the reasons that I began working with servers instead of relying on “Shared Hosting” is control. A “control freak” I’m not but relying on other people is always a disappointment. Maybe it is me but in these times I doubt it. On the other hand, if you don’t control what you do, others will step in to control it for you. The only people we really know is ourselves and even this is becoming rare with all the outside influence and lack of principles that are relegated to the internet, TV, and pundits of this or that cause. I asked myself: Where do I stand and the answer came that I stand in a world of independence. This is easier on me because I am a stickler for following rules. Especially the rules of God.

What has this to do with servers? Owning my own allows me to write (say) what I feel needs to be said. As to self-importance, there is none. As to morality, I toe the line. The last thing I want to do is hurt another human being needlessly and this stems from combat long ago. What I learned of the human race was that we are extremely fragile. It takes nothing to ruin a persons life. It also takes little for a person to ruin their own lives and we see this time and again as TV has made an industry of people flailing in lost causes.

I try to be different and this is partly due to my upbringing which, though loving, was strict. I got away with very little and that lesson created a person who looks after others. It is about control and control, the personal variety, is sadly lacking now. We see this on TV with certain lousy shows and all around us as people out for themselves who tend to hurt people who are loving and sincere. Dare I say, people who know God? We have always been crucified and are being so once again in too many circles of confusion than can be listed. The bible tells us that this will happen in the end days. This didn’t happen on this scale in the 1950s so you decide where we are now with war in the Middle East going on since World War One. Historically it has always been a tinder keg there but we now have weapons of mass destruction which we didn’t have in history before WW 2.

Self-control is, then, important and one can develop it properly only with knowledge of the bible. To fully understand what is written there is an immense help to structure our lives and to exercise control of our own little slice of this world. We cannot change the world, only God can and, guess what, He is now exerting that force as we see nations struggling with the control of themselves as well as individuals losing control of themselves. It is worth a look, don’t you think? The bible.
