A moniker I placed on myself, C.O.F. (Crazy Old Fart) just this morning after watching the news as I usually do. It is fitting, given the state of our world. I’ve been watching this world since the 1950s so I am in a good position to call myself C.O.F. Why? If anyone living in this world considers themselves sane they are sadly mistaken. Crazy is the operative term for those of us who saw this Menagerie of State coming just before Vietnam and a decade or so after. Perhaps it was all the drugs I didn’t take that put me in this position? Perhaps it is my love for the bible? Perhaps it is the auto-correct of my course through life?

When you reach this age a person isn’t sure if they should feel lucky or cursed. It isn’t like the world is getting any better, is it? Quite the opposite, right? No wonder young people are becoming furry’s and infantile once they leave high school. Their parents never grew up either. Immaturity cannot guide one through, or even into, this world of ours today. What used to be verboten is lauded now. Hurting one another is a sport whereas it used to be dealt with harshly. What happened to harsh discipline? It was outlawed and I am not speaking of punching and kicking. I am speaking of spanking a wayward child. Oh well, I can see my name going down on a list to be dealt with soon.

I got whacked a good one for disobedience. Know what it did? It stopped me from being stupid. Stupid is thinking a person can disobey the law and then be congratulated. A good whack on the ass will stymie such accolades. The absence of which we now see all around us. To be a kid now has no age limit. Thirty year olds are acting juvenile. Adulthood is something designated for porn instead of responsibility. Responsibility for oneself and others. Looking out for our brothers and sisters in life. Not discouraging errant behavior but, instead, telling the errant one they are cool. Stupid fits nicely these days. As does destructive and we sit around, watch the news, and wonder why. It is you. It is I.

Well, except that my kids are adults raising families and acting responsibly. Loving and caring of others. And you wonder why the bible was ever written do you? Just for what we are now seeing all around us.
