Ah, wealth! The high life. A stable of exotic motor cars, property in the Hampton’s, maids and butlers at one’s beck and call. Then, there is the homeless veteran on the streets possibly dying slowly of exposure and a dependence on drugs or alcohol. In between are folks like you and I who have worked all our lives just to have a roof over our heads. Then, there are scientists of all stripes who, if they did their work well enough and greased the outstretched palms of those with big bucks, get to live in between the homeless and the Hampton’s. Not all scientists, of course, but those who love seeing their names in print.
On the other hand we have the, “low life.” Those who sell drugs or make their expenses by selling drugs, guns, or running ponzi schemes, or just good old fashioned thieves and pick pockets. One day on the street, the next day in jail but quickly let out by progressive D.A.s. To do what? Repent? Not on your life do they repent!
Then there are those who believe in God and understand that the world is screwed up for a good reason. A reason that is available to understand by reading an ancient text. To do so, however, almost requires a stance in life that wants none of the Hampton’s or the homeless, but reasons, that to work hard and pray leads to anything but the Hampton’s and homeless. To understand that to have enough to live allows a fulfillment of life as is written. Thus, assuring a chance at eternity. Eternity or the Hampton’s? Seems an easy choice. Then again, we have the world beckoning us to join in the fray. All that champagne and caviar. A tough choice, right?
