We all have lanes in which we either flourish or fail depending on how well we know ourselves. With the advent of computers and social media we end up with a confluence of streams of “others” the truth of which we can only guess. Who knows who these individuals or groups are, what they have or have not accomplished, and, for goodness sake, if they even know what they stand for. Social media is a free-for-all of braggarts, half-informed, and ignorant individuals who have taken on a personal cause of one type or other. Sprinkled in are those who know who they are and stay in their lane.
I tend to shy away from social media but if a person does what I am doing here it helps to advertise what is available and then a person is free to partake or shun. For now, X is the only social media platform I use and I use it sparingly and pointedly for my websites. I can’t tell if it helps or not but 300,000 views of this website probably means it does help. In other words, I use social media purposefully and for one thing only. I understand my lane and stay in it.
The above is one example that seems to work but I always stay in my lane because when I have gotten a swelled head and think I can do another thing I often fall flat. Well, you can say, you’re old and can’t keep up. I can keep up or I wouldn’t have this website and this server which I put together completely on my own and have for some years now. I was able to learn to do this because I stepped out of my lane and found another, compatible lane that hearkened back to what I once did in combat which was electronic eaves dropping. The technical aspect I learned when I was a kid (young adult) courtesy the U.S. Navy.
It is simpler and more satisfying to know your limits and not push your limits. I’ve done that also and ended up with a broken leg and deformed spine. Call me partial humpback of Notre Dame. A long fall from a high place and POW. I get along, do what I know how to do, and leave the bragging to others. All in a day’s work.
