I can’t seem to grasp and hold onto a “deep thought.” It isn’t like I am “Shallow Hal” or even “Shallow Waters.” I am, for what it’s worth, practical minded and on top of that a realist. I just am and I can’t find enough “wonder” about me to boast. As soon as I think I’m great some circumstance or other comes out of nowhere and slaps me up the side of the head. I hate that but if I boast I pretty m-m-m-much deserve that. (that was a close one!) I like to think of myself as dull witted and slovenly at times. That is simply because at times I am dull witted and slovenly. We all are unless your name is Jack or Denise as those two names are the epitome of neat and clean. Not the people just the names. I had an uncle once named Jack. He was a barber in Sausalito, California. Sandy’s Barber Shop. Some called him Sandy and I never learned why.

I have mediocre thoughts for the most part. Grandiose thoughts rarely darken my door, quote the Raven, never more. I do love ice cream, I stopped drinking alcohol after it tried to kill me, and I drive a Jeep JK 2 door. My license plate says, “Old Phot.” I have been behind a camera and lens since age sixteen, all film until 2006 when I bit the proverbial bullet and bought a Nikon D70s. I already had a stable of Nikon lenses so it made sense, something I rarely do. I now use a Nikon D 300, Great camera!

Do you mind if my mind shuffles the deck while I write? Sometimes incongruent thoughts just need to be jotted down, don’t you think? No? You should try it! You will not find Nirvana as it is east of Fresno, CA. But you may find a new Corvette in your driveway but that ain’t likely now is it? It is difficult for me to stay on point isn’t it? I started with no specific point so this is the natural flow you are witness to.

I will do better or the same tomorrow but somebody has to keep words on the website! If not me who? You? Write me by using the comment form here. If you are as whacked as I am I may let you write a few missives now and again. Remember the Beach, On the. Great novel if you like reading about death. Was it Leon Uris that wrote it? I can’t recall as that was back in the 1960s when I was approaching twenty, Vietnam, marriage, kids, bills out the wazoo and a lot of drinking. It’s a wonder I remember my dang name sometimes. Melvin? Shep? Douglas? Helen of Troy? I’m just not sure ever since I turned senile. Join me?
