In my opinion, nope, America is not perfect because men and women are not perfect. The phrase: far from perfect arises in the back of my mind and is shoving its way up to the front. Man and womankind are imperfect which, for those college educated this century, means that mankind in toto has never been close to perfect.
To say we “F” up constantly applies to only a few and that few are quickly dead by their own brains . . . or, lack thereof. Perfection does not exist on this planet even though this planet may have been perfect originally but then, so was mankind originally. Perfection cannot create imperfection it is stated in a mathematics seldom understood. Perfection has not been seen in any civilization past or present since that little known or under told garden at the junction of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. You know the name right? E-D-E-N!
We’re a long way from Eden which means we are a long way from God which means we are so far from perfection that we tend to kill one another at the drop of a hat or, a bomb. Hell, even a bullet if you watch crime shows on TV. Lack of perfection breeds stupidity and guess what the human race is, for the most part? S-T-U-P-I-D, Damn it!!!!!
How can we be so stupid and yet so proud? We are Presidents! We are Kings! We are Emperors! We are shit, but don’t know it and those few who do are the ones Heaven is looking for. That is your religious lesson for this millennia and all millennia to come . . . forever. Just a few words to place in a tube to brush your teeth with.
