I sometimes take a couple of days off from writing here as it is so danged easy to complain but more difficult to understand direction once you are engaged in the negatives. That, stated as clearly as an old fart who has seen, not all, but danged near all can muster. However, negativity is heading toward a losing proposition and I don’t want to slip down into the darkness. The dark will come for me soon enough as it is, as I never expected to get past the mid-point of the seventies. How I got here is anyone’s guess but it isn’t because I am a brilliant genius.
Have you ever considered how normal you are? Unless you’re a high IQ scholar of some disjointed but much lauded discipline then you are just like me. If I call myself a savant then I am holding up a painting of Da Vinci to my mirror and calling the reflection, me. Me is not a Da Vinci. Hell, I was lucky to be able to figure out how do build a website but never smart enough to figure out all the code that makes a website. I didn’t invent a server I just use a few. I am smart enough to get out of my own way and that is probably why I am still here. But, enough about me. (He told himself over and over, again and again!)
Life itself is the biggest challenge we have and all of us got here without being asked if we wanted to be here, right? If we were asked if we wanted to be here then obviously we weren’t told what we were getting ourselves into. It’s kind of like a drunk who finds himself atop the Golden Gate Bridge and doesn’t remember how he got there. Not to mention he has no clothes on and is crying over the loss of that can of beer he just dropped. You can’t win for losing, can you? Bridge or no bridge, we got here without knowledge.
When we’re teenage we think we know a lot. We don’t actually know much more than when we were seven we’ve just learned to lie to ourselves. Lying is what teens do unless they have learned to work. Work is difficult, demands more from us than we were ready for and culls out the weak mind from the strong. I was working at the age of fifteen and have not stopped because I am not a nice person if I have nothing to do; nothing to occupy my mind and that thing is called responsibility. You work for pay and that means you need money and those you work for have the money but only if you help them procure it by your work. Round and round we go.
In the end, we either have the drive to work or we have the negative drive to complain which is work in itself that doesn’t pay well. Instead, you receive a pittance from others who consider you fools to do so little for so little return. Then we have spirit. Spirit, you heard me right! That is part of what drives responsibility because a person has the where with all to know that work is good for the spirit. A good days work allows sweet dreams, not nightmares, and worthless worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come. Well, the caveat is that tomorrow will come, whether you’re here or not, because time is the simplest thing and the human being depends on repetition.
And, there you have it. I have now solved the worlds problems without being elected president. Take that Trump!
