I used to hate it, as a kid, to hear about how tough life used to be. I heard stories of difficulty with lack of food, rotten weather, and, on the flip side, how decent people used to be. How they weathered the difficulties by staying united as a family, difficult as times may have been. The difference, then to now, is that people worked together and now we tear one another down at every opportunity. Democrat, Republican-Christian, Islam-men, women. When the basics are disputed it means only one thing: spoiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spoiled brats and this began with my generation. My parents came through the Great Depression and their parents were more or less pioneers. The bounty of our country was unbelievable in those long gone days and opportunity was everywhere. Opportunity for those willing to work untold hours to scrape together a decent way of life. That grouping of generations had no spoiled brats, just people who, if they wanted to eat, worked at back breaking toil to put food on the table. Work. What happened to honest work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, we’re too good for honest work in the cities and suburbs. No need when government handouts are rampant. There were few if any government handouts way back in my parents time but that generation is who tamed this nation and gave us the bounty we now take for granted. Taking plenty for granted is the downfall of a nation. America was, despite the horror stories of the pioneers versus the Indians, a place where only hard work would put food on the table. Now, well, what about now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If I sound like my parents it is because I see what is missing in this country which allows the greed and avarice. It is, simply, too much of a good thing. A fat and lazy group of youthful dimwits protesting things they know nothing about. Mistaught<\/em><\/strong>, is a word I came up with a few years ago for what colleges and universities are now turning loose on innocent kids, who think they are grown up and have all the answers. They don’t hold a candle to those who made America what she is and is now losing due to these kids. The median age for an adult now is around 55. It used to be 15. That is far too wide a spread to be changing diapers.
